So who’s this bloke called Russell and why are we always banging on about him? Here’s our founder, Molly, who’ll explain.
Meet Molly, founder of Fuck Off Russell
Hi, I’m Molly, co-founder of Famn, a psychological coaching organisation, and founder of Fuck Off Russell.
Why Russell?
Russell is what I call my inner critic. The voice in my head that tells me I’m not good enough, that I’m going to fail, that everyone thinks I’m stupid. He’s been a constant, nagging source of anxiety for most of my life.
Naming your inner critic is a great way to start spotting and externalising its narrative — that’s where Russell comes in. By doing this, we start to take back some of its power.
Why are you always telling him to fuck off?
Until recent years I had never questioned whether this constant, critical narrative was anything other than the truth, until, through therapy, I became aware of the concept of an inner critic.
My inner critic has never completely left me. But, over time, I’ve learnt the ability to manage him, and to take back some of his control and power.
Fuck Off Russell is all about sharing the knowledge, resources and tools that I’ve picked up on my own journey, and through our coaches over at Famn. Through this community, I hope that you can tell your inner critic to fuck off, and feel more in control of your life.

When we name our inner critic, we start to get a little more objective about that nagging voice, which gives us more control over it.
Top tip: when it comes to naming your inner critic, don’t overthink it. But our advice is to avoid choosing the name of a person you interact with frequently (shit starts to get weird).
